Sleeping Bear Sonata
Pastel
12.5” x 15” 16” x 20” framed
I stood in the warming sands of Sleeping Bear Point to paint this lovely scene. As the sun rose, casting shadows westward, there was still a distant fog over the waters of Lake Michigan. As fog lifted, the later morning revealed a facade of North Manitou Island. The sky was pristinely blue, reflecting the gorgeous array of colors and depths in the waters. I am in awe of God’s creation, and joy fills my heart as I seek to reflect His glory on the picture plane. I was competing this day in a Plein Air competition in Glen Arbor, and was given three hours to paint.
